1888 Elgin National Watch Company Pocket Watch, No. 3034929, 16 Size, 7 Jewels, Gilded, Grade 104.
The case is marked with Warranted and the Lion Trademark. (I believe this case was registered by H. Muhr's Sons of Philadelphia, 10K Gold Filled.) (If you need to see the old ad with the trademark please email.) The case has a slight discoloration on the back (see the photos). There are no dings. The case closes and snaps properly. The inside of the case is shiny and bright.
The dial has playing cards for number markers with a salmon color background. There are some black lines, and it looks like an outer chip at the very edge of the 7. I do not know what the dial is made of. I did not take the front cover of the case off, it is on there tight and I did not want to break anything. (see the photos) The fancy hands appear to be a gold color. The crystal appears to be a heavy glass and looks pretty clear.
The movement appears to be in very nice condition.
I was able to wind, set the time and the watch is sitting here ticking away. It seems to be keeping pretty good time, But since it is from a watchmaker's estate and has been sitting for some time in a collection, it should be serviced. Selling as is. If you have any questions or would like more photos, please do not hesitate to contact me. (#634)
