The US mint stopped making copper pennies in 1982 because they knew the value of copper was worth more than the penny TWENTY SIX YEARS AGO!! With the current industrialization of China, Russia, & India, the world copper demand will continue to out pace supply (no new large copper finds in the last 100 years...) Some economist and geologist speculate copper will "run dry" in as little as 20 years. Just a few days ago Jim Cramer of mad money was telling everyone to start selling stocks and move to a safe haven like gold. Copper is just as safe and is a good way to keep your eggs in a few baskets. For the numismatist, these coins have not been picked through for any "S" mints or mint errors. Imagine finding a 1969 S double-die! This is a sound investment, as a penny will never be worth less than a penny. This is one of the few investment vehicles that offer a low risk-high reward potential!
