Our established Aluminum Foundries combines experience with the latest technology to provide high quality sand, permanent mold, and die castings at competitive prices. We are located in Salt Lake City, Utah with 100 employees, operating in two shifts, and housed in 100,000 square feet warehouse.
The key to our success has been constant striving for customer satisfaction through employee participation and equipment automation. Casting technology - we are expert in multiple casting processes, which means that you can turn to a single vendor for most of your casting needs. Our casting process is fine tuned for efficiency in both small lot and high capacity jobs. For sand castings, multiple enhanced with robotic pouring and integrated core knockout ensure delivery on even the largest orders.
Experience - the core members of our management team have been working together to produce quality castings at Aluminum Foundries for over 20 years. We get to know the particular needs of each of our customers. When you have a question there will be someone you know ready to respond.
Just-in-time delivery - rapid turn-around of orders and KanBan capability mean first rate castings are delivered when you need them.
Advanced computer systems - our quality system (QA Display) provides pictorials for every stage of production on shop-floor terminals networked throughout the plant.
We process orders ranging from 1 to 500,000 per year for casting sizes of 1oz. to 150 lbs. Alloys poured on a daily basis are available in 356, 355, 319 and Almag 35. Our sand molding process includes automatic molding machines, robotic pouring, and hand-poured squeezer and cope-and-drag molding.
Our Permanent process can run castings up to 100 lbs. in alloys 356, 355, 319 and Almag 35.
Our diecast department has 5 machines with up to 600 ton capacity. We currently run castings up to 4 lbs. in alloys 380 and 360. Available finishes include roll brighting, shot blasting, tumbled and standard.
Multiple core processes include shell, Co2, and Oil sand. High volume, very delicate cores are produced on a daily basis on our automatic core machines.
All castings are transported into the Finishing Department via conveyors, so finished parts can be completed the same day they are molded. Shot blasting operations are performed in the finishing department. Solution and precipitation heat treating of many alloys per customer specifications are available up to T7 condition.
Our Quality Assurance program is directed toward on site employee involvement in all aspects of quality. We use our many years of manufacturing experience and modern technology to give you dependable quality on every requirement.
Every part we manufacture is documented in our Quality Assurance system that combines digital images with casting parameters and text procedures. This system is networked throughout the plant, enabling us to update procedures and customer specifications instantaneously. Touch screen kiosks on the shop floor put all casting process parameters literally at the fingertips of each employee, department by department, step by step.
Per customer requirement we offer 100% visual inspection. We have complete lab facilities, including a spectrometer and coordinate measurement machine in house. Our SPC system controls:
Aluminum is a light weight, silver-colored metal that can be formed into almost any shape. It can be rolled into thick plates for armored tanks or into thin foil for wrappers. It may be drawn into wire or made into cans. Aluminum is the third most abundant element in the earth's crust after oxygen and silicon. Aluminum is a comparatively new industrial metal that has been produced in commercial quantities for just over 100 years. Pure aluminum is soft and has little strength. Small amounts of elements like copper, magnesium, zinc etc., are added to pure aluminum to give strength.
Resists corrosion - a thin protective layer is formed when the aluminum metal is exposed to atmosphere and this prevents rusting of aluminum surface.
High strength to weight ratio - weighs about one-third as much as copper

Applications of Aluminum
After iron and steel, aluminum is the most popular metal used for many applications including:
Transportation: The combination of lightness, strength and formability make aluminum the ideal material for transportation applications. It is used in automobiles, airplanes, railways and marine applications. Aluminum is used for making fuel-efficient engines in cars and trucks. Its low weight reduces fuel consumption and emissions.
Air travel: Strong aluminum alloys take the extreme pressures and stresses involved in high altitude flying. Wafer thin aluminum panels keep the cold out and the air in. Many internal fittings like the seating on planes are made from aluminum or aluminum composite in order to save weight and thus save fuel, reduce emissions and increase the aircraft's payload.
Vehicles: In a vehicle crash involving a largely aluminum vehicle a high proportion of the shock is absorbed by the structure.
Packaging and food processing: Aluminum is non-poisonous and so non-acidic food can be safely wrapped in aluminum foil and cooked in aluminum vessels. Aluminum cooking utensils heat up quickly and evenly and are easy to lift. Using aluminum cookware, the energy required to heat is less than that of stainless steel or cast iron.
