Vintage Japanese Satsuma-style Large Charger Plate. Fair condition, obvious signs of wears, loss of surface decorations and painting. The faces, arms, figural parts, and other areas have missing paints or decorations. The monk is holding the frog above his head, and the frog has some loss of surface.
Several areas has kiln marks. One spot has a tiny nick on the underside. The scene contains two monks, one possible called the Toad Immortal - "Gama Sennin" (蝦蟇仙人). Circling the central scene is a phoenix decoration. Crackle patterns. Base rim has some yellow residue -- I don't know if they are old fillings or repairs. No maker's mark or signature. Circa: early 20th century, late Meiji. Made in Japan.
