Motto Jugs or Torquay Devon style Motto ware was both charming and popular in the last century, and a lot of European and American decorators copied the popularity. Since this delightful soft paste pottery "Honey" jug is marked USA, lets assume it's an American tribute to Devonware. Likely created in the 1940-1950 period, this beautiful little classically-styled jug has a lot going for it, including the bee sipping from the flower. Done in a wonderful primitive and simple clover type floral, this jug would be a nice addition to a breakfast table! No damage to this lovely piece and likely made by one of the premier potters of the times who marked their wares, "USA". Measures approximately 5" tall and 4.5" wide including the handle. ...
