According to the Catholic faith, on a warm summer night in August, 352 A.D., the Virgin Mary appeared to both a wealthy couple and to Pope Liberius in a dream expressing her desire to have a church built in her honor. The told them that the site for the church would be blanketed in snow. The citizens of Rome awoke the next morning to find the Esquiline Hill covered in snow. The wealthy couple were inspired by this miracle to finance the the building of the church. This 3/4" diameter disc charm features a dimensional and detailed Virgin Mary cradling the Christ child, and reads, OUR LADY OF THE SNOWS PRAY FOR US. The charm is in VERY GOOD vintage condition, with a light rhodium finish and spotty tarnishing on the reverse. It is signed CREED STERLING.
