This is the autobiography of Esphyr Slobodkina, a famous childrens book illustrator such as Caps for Sale. These books are so lovely assembled. They are part photo album, scrap book and manuscript. A lot of time was put into it and it showed. The author only made 100 copies of each volume as 3 were put out. They were only given to her family members and close friends. It is even more rare to have all 3 volumes in hand as they easily get separated over time. The last vol number 3 has 2 books inside the blue slip cover. All the books are covered in brown paper like the grocery bag, kind of give that home made feel. The photos although copied are really nicely done and interesting to look at. The overall condition is very good. The last vol has some loose pages coming off the binding. There are some minor discoloration on a few pages as well. On the last note, these books were all signed to Signed to Edward R Downe Jr. I believe that the last name was spelled as Downe but not sure as it was not clear. If this is the Mr. Downe, he was a NYC Socialite and was involved in inside trading back in the 1990s.
