This is a set of 3 training chopsticks, used in Asia to help children develop the dexterity to handle real chopsticks. When I was a student teacher in art, I was struck by the beautiful handwriting and drawing skills of all my Asian students. Then a parent pointed out the benefits of chopsticks to handwriting skills. Oh duh!!
When my son was born with a disability, I started my long search for educational toys that shouted "FUN!!" instead of "THERAPY.. TAKE COVER... RUN!!!" My son can sniff a therapist or therapy equipment a mile away. But when it is disguised as a toy, he's totally into it.
When I heard about training chopsticks, I knew a winner when I saw one. Unfortunately, the first few sets I found didn't shout "FUN" at all. Then I saw these.... aren't they sweet? What child can resist eating with a friendly tiger, giraffe or monkey pal?
Even though my son is writing now, he still needs a lot of work in the fine motor department. And I can tell you he just LOVES these training chopsticks!!
Handwriting skills have seriously eroded... the public schools no longer teach penmenship, and the poor teachers can hardly make out the answers on tests and reports. Do your kid a favor, start helping him or her develop the strength and dexterity to write when they are young
This set of 3 consists of one shark, and one sea horse, and one lobster trainer chopsticks.
