This is an original limited edition mixed media print by DS Irvin at Three Cats Graphics titled "The Eyes Are Watching". It was inspired by a painting my mother did of a still life in the early 1960's. The elements lend itself to that time period and give it a rather "Kitsch" ambiance. I am not sure why some of the objects in the original painting are present - these include large staring eyes, the pitcher with the iris, some strange little bottles, the black book, the mandolin, the word "Spring" and the price of $60 - or what inspired the art instructor who made up the still life to assemble these objects. The transformation of the large eyes belonging to those of a black cat, the grapes, and wine are my additions to the original composition. The process for making these prints begins with original pen and ink art which is then scanned into the computer, it is assembled there and color and some special effects are added. The print is high quality color laser, some accents are then hand painted on with acrylic paint so no two of the prints are identical. Metallic gold acrylic has been used for accents on this piece which shine in the light. Each print is hand signed on the front and hand titled, signed, numbered, and dated, January 2007, on the back. This is number 6 of 20. The print itself measures 9" wide by 6 1/2" tall and it comes on an 8 1/2 x 11 piece of 110 lb high quality Hammermill Card Stock. All reproduction rights to the prints remain with the artist. If you have any questions please email me.
