You are looking at a solid cast brass, 'fly' match-holder or vesta, circa 1930s. This unusual match-holder measures three and a half inches long by just over two and a quarter inches wide, his body is hinged to reveal the compartment for storing matches, which can then be 'struck' by using the striker plate on the underside of his wings.
This will make a novel addition to any collection of Old English brassware.
