Daisy and her husband are a British couple of more than comfortable means -- their child's nursery has its own kitchen, and when one nanny leaves they simply hire another. Until Daisy makes the simple mistake of hiring Margaret Pride. Margaret seems just perfect at first, and little John is quite fond of her. Though her tastes run the gamut from trash (silly romance novels) to junk (horrifying confections of real or artificial sugar), Daisy's still glad to have someone responsible on board. Then Daisy learns that she's pregnant again. And as the child within her grows, her awareness of what's going on within her own house grows more vague. Things get strange -- if not downright bizarre.
