For a man who lived only 36 years, Robert Burns left a mark like few others. This rayon scarf is for those who pay tribute each year on his birthday.
The center has a bust of Burns surrounded by 4 of his verses within a garland of tartan plaid and thistle. In the corners are Drumfries the Auld Brig, Tam O' Shanter Inn Ayr, Auld Brig O'Doon, and Burns Cottage Alloway. The center background is ivory and the edge is strong lavender. On my screen it looks blue but it is definitely in the purple family.
The scarf is 26 inches square and in great, probably never used, condition. The fabric is typical of rayon used in the 1930s. It has a silky sheen and a texture that is a little like crepe.
