Belle Isle is in the Detroit River between Detroit and Windsor, Canada. The island contains 702 acres and is entirely covered with one of the most beautiful parks in the United States having some 21 miles of Macadam Roads; a magnificent Casino, Paviliona Hall and Zoological Gardens. The island was purchased by Detroit in 1879, and has since then expended $1,500,000 in beautifying it.
