100% WOVEN WOOL - HAND DYED, SLIGHTLY FELTED AND SOAKED IN LANOLIN
FAT QUARTER YARD
Our fat quarters are around 14" to 16" long and 20" to 26" wide. They range in size due to individual felting of the wool.
Many more colors in our store.
We can list as much of this color as you need if it is not listed - just let us know. We keep at least 10 yards of wool undyed for special orders and requests at all times.
We can dye any color in a lighter or darker value for you on request. Gradation dye jobs are also available in any color on request. The gradation dye jobs cost a little more as there is lots more work involved. We can also create custom colors in the dye pot for you. We dye a lot of colors as is straight from the dye packet. Some colors are our own recipe. We usually only dye medium values for our regular stocked items. We carry at least one yard of every color in stock at all times. We use Pro Chem, Cushings, and where noted natural dyes. Almost all colors are Pro Chem. We add new colors all the time. Just ask us and we can find or make a color that is just perfect for you.
All wool is medium weight and perfect for rug hooking, penny rugs, appliqué, quilting, sewing and more.
All wool has been soaked in lanolin as the final soak. This makes them soft and conditions the wool to make them hook better and feel better in your hands. I almost always use Pendleton, Dorr, or another American mill medium weight 100% wool unless specified differently in ad.
Monks cloth and burlap available also in our store.
WILL cut IN ANY SIZE FOR FREE AT YOUR REQUEST for rug hooking. We have blade sizes #3 through #10. Blade numbers and strip widths are as follows:
Strip sizes #3-#4 are considered as fine or traditional hooking size - you get very fine detailing with these size strips.
#5-#7 are midway sizes and allow some detailing
#8-#8.5 are considered traditional primitive hooking widths
#9-#10 are considered wide hooking
Each size strip has it's own nuances and pros and cons - it is perfectly acceptable to use all sizes of strips in one rug or art piece. I personally like to use the smaller cuts for detailing and outlining in a mostly primitive hooked rug. We will be happy to strip bundles in one size or a variety of sizes for each bundle for you for FREE. Just let us know in checkout messages or paypal notes and we will do all the cutting for you.
