Contents: This booklet was published in conjuction with the exhibtion held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and which ran from February 20 to April 6, 1986. It discusses the black-figure technique of vase-painting, which consisted of silhouettes articulated by incised lines and enlivened by added opague colors, such as purple-red and white, and was used by Athenian painters from about the second half of the seventh century until the late sixth century B.C. Illustrated with photographs.
