Book is a reproduction of the original edition published in 1905. "The precious volume contains fifty folk and patriotic songs of the Cechs and Slovaks."
"In 1905, the Province of Bohemia was a part of the former Austro-Hungarian Empire. We thought it best to use the original title althoug the reader will notice that the Cech title uses the correct word since there is no Cech word for Bohemian."
Book includes stories about the history of each song. "In addition, some words are Slovak, some Polish, and other appear to be dialects, colloquialisms, "lidovy" (people) words no longer used." A few senteces in English tell the reader the song's story. Cech alphabet; maps show areas of former Austro-Hungarian Empire of 1914, the Repulbic of Czechoslovakia of 1925 and 1945.
Book is in very good condition. It has light shelf wear on cover, mostly corners. Dedication written in ink on top outer cover. Inside is clean. No marked, torn or loose pages. Binding is tight.
