I create dichroic glass cabochons for jewelry designers who incorporate them into necklace designs (e.g. by wire-wrapping them or by affixing a pendant bail).
This cabochon is designed with purple and burnt orange Coatings by Sandberg dichroic glass on white art glass, and is topped with clear glass with black frit and stringer for depth. It was kiln-fused and carefully annealed for strength. I then shaped it with a glass grinder. Finally, it was put back into the kiln and fire polished for brilliance. It measures 39 mm in diameter.
