Note: Meyer is not a true lemon but a hybrid between a lemon and either a mandarin or an orange. The tree that was discovered in China in the early 20th century must have begun as a seed, the result of chance cross-pollination. Seedlings will have similar qualities but may not be exactly the same.
Meyer lemons have thin-skinned fruit that is much larger and less tart than 'Eureka' or 'Lisbon' than you buy in the store and are nearly thorn less. Fruits abundantly in winter but can have some fruit most months of the year. Mature fruit turns from green to yellow to slightly orange in color. The Meyer Lemon flesh is a light orange-yellow color, with juice sweeter than that of most lemons. Meyer lemons have a great reputation as an indoor houseplant.
Of all citrus trees, the Meyer Lemon is one of the hardiest (it can withstand cold weather and some abuse). And it's one of the most productive for its size. Grows well in full sun or part shade (full sun in cooler climates.) Zone 8-11. These are seeds for planting, not fruits for consumption.
