Story:The Magical Sword of Gryffindor for sale!
The sword of Gryffindor is an iconic sword in the best-selling book series of J.K Rowling. The movie was also made into a very successful movie of 8 parts. It is described in the books that the sword of Gryffindor was made thousands of years ago by goblins who were the most skilled metal workers of the magical world. Hence, it is shown as the book progresses that the sword contained magical properties.
It was owned by the wizard Godric Gryffindor who was one of the four founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
This sword was made by Ragnuk the First, King of Goblins on the specifications of Gryffindor. However, when the beautiful sword had been made, Ragnuk wanted to keep it for himself. He even acted like Gryffindor had stolen it from him and sent minions to steal the sword back. However, Gryffindor bewitched the minions and sent them back to Ragnuk warning him to never try to steal the sword again or else he would unsheathe the sword against all the goblins.
The goblin agreed to the threat half-heartedly and despised Gryffindor until he died.
In May of 1993, the sword materialized again when Harry Potter was inside the Chamber of Secrets and the he used the sword to kill Salazar Slytherin’s Basilisk. The sword is made by goblins; hence it is infused with basilisk venom which makes it stronger overtime. Hence, it was able to destroy Horcruxes, something which other weapons could not do. The sword resided in Dumbledore’s office after killing the Basilisk.
In 1996, Dumbledore used the Gryffindor Sword to destroy the Gaunt family ring which was one of Voldemort’s Horecruxes as well.
Before Dumbledore’s death, he gave the Gryffindor sword to Harry in his will. However, Dumbledore was clever enough to know that the Ministry of Magic will never give the magical and historic sword to Harry. So he had gotten a replica made and hidden the real sword in the hole behind his portrait. Sure enough, the sword was taken by Rufus Scrimgeor and then by Bellatrix Lestrange and she kept it in her Gringotts vault. Snape was entrusted the duty of depositing the real sword in the frozen lake where Harry and his friends could find it.
Harry, Ron and Hermoine were captured by death eaters along with the Gryffindor Sword. They were taken to the cellar in Malfoy Manor. Bellatrix demanded to know how these 3 had possession of the Gryffindor sword as she had placed it into her Gringotts vault. Harry convinced Griphook, the goblin to verify that the sword was a replica to Bellatrix.
Break-in at Gringotts
Harry wanted to break into Bellatric Lestrange’s vault as he believed that one of the Horecrux was in her vault. He took Griphook’s help to break into Gringotts Bank on the promise that he would give Griphook the Gryffindor sword as a reward. After the break-in, Griphook ran away with the sword.
Battle of Hogwarts
The iconic sword made its entry again for Neville Longbottom where Neville used the sword to kill Nagini and also the last remaining Horcrux. This finally made Voldemort mortal once again.
Appearance of the Gryffindor Sword
The sword was a priceless piece and looked every bit as magnificent in real with its magical powers. It was made from pure silver and had rubies inset in it. Godric Gryffindor’s name is engraved just below the hilt.
