Close up of the pictures show the beautiful shape of the beads and separators which, with the main bead carving are of typical old and skilful ottoman carving.
I am honored to have known these masters who work with such an art and patience and unfortunely the last of a kind.

It is made of rare Galalith ( See explanation herebelow) in imatation of Tortoise - with a very realistic result-
Description : Material : Rare GALALITH ( see explanation below) IMITATION OF TORTOISE - RARE AND VERY PLEASANT. Tassel : Of same beads - very rare and elegant General : 99 beads ofLONG RICE SHAPEshape :10 x6 mm Total length : 55 cm Galalith, a milk protein plastic, was produced in a rainbow of brilliant colors and marbling patterns. It was used in France and Germany from the 1920's to the 1940's. Once synthetic plastics were invented the production of Galalith ceased; Galalith, which is milk-based, as opposed to chemically based, is actually heavier than bakelite and has a much more polished finish.
