Nippon white porcelain with oriental floral design celery dish. Trimmed in a gold and lime green band with embossed blue dots, the celery dish has cut-outs at each end of the dish. Inside of the celery dish are yellow and orange red flowers connected with gray and gold vines with leaves. Oriental and/or deco style. Has a collar base. The word Nippon (Japan) was used mainly between 1891 to 1921. The rising sun mark was used beginning 1911.
The bottom is marked with a blue "rising sun" with the words: Hand Painted NIPPON. There is wear on the "N". The celery dish measures 12 1/4 inches by 5 1/8 inches. Stands 1 1/8 inches high. There are no cracks, chips or flakes. There is no staining or discoloration on the inside of the bowl. Some of the dots around the border are worn down.
