Offered is an antique ironstone (or clayware) gravy/sauce tureen with lid and underplate by John Alcock of Cobridge. This pattern is called Celeste and consists of blue urns, pagodas, flowers & scrolls. According to the RD mark this piece or pattern was registered May 7, 1842. The tureen measures 5 inches wide, 8 1/4 inches long, and about 7 inches high. The underplate measures 6 1/2 x 9 1/2 inches. In very good condition. There is a small 1/4 inch flake on the edge of the underplate. Comes from a smoke-free environment. Your satisfaction is my goal and it is never my intention to misrepresent an item.
