Euphorbia trigona rubra is a perennial plant that originally comes from Central Africa. It has an upright stem and number of branches that also grow upward. The stem and branches can have two or three sides. The stem itself is dark green to maroon red with V-shaped light green to maroon patterns and maroon red leaves.The drop shaped leaves grow from between the two thorns on each ridge. The trigona can withstand brief cold temperatures down to 25F. It prefers sandy soil but can withstand most types of well-drained soil. It is a pest-free plant with a shallow and small root system. Easy care and makes a perfect and unusual indoor houseplant. Outdoors zones 9-11. Fast grower, up to 8 ft tall.
