Lovely JIE ceramic figurine of a child with a cat designed by Ewa Jarenskog. This lovely figurine shows a child petting a cat. It is difficult to say the child is a girl or if it is a boy and it can be either, or. The pieces is in very good vintage condition. No chips, no cracks and no repairs.

About Ewa Jarenskog (1947-)
She started working for JIE Gantofta in 1980 and worked for the company until it went bankrupt in 1992. After that she became a freelance designer for JIE Keramik, She is famous for her figurines of children, families and trolls.
About JIE Gantofta
Founded by John Evert ("JIE") Johnson (1908-1992) in Helsinborg, in 1942. Initially working with glass, ceramic and furniture, the company grew and in 1944 moved to Gantofta. JIE Keramik continued to grow and became famous for its ceramic pieces. It worked with dozens of Scandinavian and Nordic designers including Aimo Nietosvuori who created circa 1.300 pieces for JIE Gantofta. JIE's most sold products were the series created by Aimo Nietosvuori.
