Scalloped yardage. Handmade American Renaissance Battenburg Needlelace. The ribbons are a little different from the usual plain ones seen. These have a bit of glossy thread in the trails. Nice. The oval portions that make up the flowers are also Battenburg braid, one of several that mimic the ovals in Honiton bobbin lace. Nice use of solid wheels at the intersections of the connecting threads, along with buttonhole rings. The needle fillings are very well done. The sides and edge are finished with eyelet braid. There are 5 different braids used in this lace. Two in the top straight edge, the main trail, the ovals for flowers, and the picot edge. Suitable for the front hem of a bride's gown or even the veil.
