This is a magnificent silk chemise, circa 1870 , just post Civil War era. The piece is in good condition, and would be a fabulous "something old" for any bride to wear. The silk is strong and wearable. There is decorative pintucking at the hemline and beautiful lace beading at the neckline, needing only an antique silk ribbon to be woven through it. The closure is a front button closure in a hidden button panel. There is one fingertip sized hole near the hemline. Also there is some pale perspiration staining present, under the arms and at the back neckline. It is not glaring, and there is no deterioration... you really don't notice it except under close inspection. Color is antique white. Chemise will fit up to 34" bust, 25" waist, and hip is open. shoulder to hemline measures 53".When you are purchasing vintage apparel, please take into consideration that even the best cared for items do have imperfections related to age. Each of my garments is carefully inspected and all details are disclosed to you, however minimal. Many times they are not at all noticeable, but I want you to be informed.
