This is a Vintage Henry Beguelin Locle Pocket Watch, approx. 45mm, Straight Line Patent Lever, No. 27372, Key wind, Key set.
The case is marked Fine Silver with two stars on both inside covers of the case. Has a pretty floral design on the outer case and does not have any engraved initials. I do not see any dents on the case. I think the case appears to be in nice condition for it's age. It does close and snap properly.(see the photos)
The dial has a tiny chip at the 9, that I can see through the crystal. The hands are very fancy and appear to be gold with blue fancy tips. (see the photos)
The watch winds, sets and runs.
The info I could found for Henry Beguelin of Locle was the watchmaker was working there about the 1850 to 1892 period, however, one book suggest he was born in 1840, so the 1850 date might be a bit early.
In 1862 Henry E Beguelin went into partnership with Alfred Frederick Cross of New York to form Cross & Beguelin of New York, Paris and Chaux de Fonds.
Henry's death was announced in an article in the August 1892 edition of the Jewelers Circular and Horological review, where they state that ‘Henry E Beguelin Unexpectedly Passes away’
This watch is a fine piece of history and would make a very nice addition to any watch collectors collection!
