Hello Fellow Fisherman,This is a tough as nails simple but proven effective rig we use here in the NorthEast on the Cod grounds.Most of the time my customers and myself use this rig with some form of rubber teaser(SQUIDS,CURLT-TAILS,ECT).
Many fisherman prefer to fish bait without teasers and sometimes it depends on the day.This is the "ALMOST NAKED" RIG.80lb test Ande/Big game Trilene starts by getting swagged or crimped to a 165lb test Barrel Swivel.A small loop of Offshore green"spring" style line protector makes a barrier between the swivel ring and the leader material.I have been making these rigs for public sale with the line protector and crimps going on 5 years and only have had positive feedback plus my own personal successes.Going down a few inches is a dropper loop with a green barrel glow bead and an 8/0 Red Oct pus hook.A small 1/2 to 1inch shot of"SUPER" brite Glow tube,this covers the connection to the hook and the loop forcing it to stand out and adding a bit of glow to aide in guiding the fish to the bait.
About a 1/2 ft down the above hook set-up is duplicated.
To finish the rig off is a large loop able to accommodate heavy lead or even a jig if need be......
