Very often in the history of redemption and of the Church, the Lord allows difficult circumstances, even incomprehensible , for the good of his people.
What distressed believer does not bless the name of the Lord for the painful and tragic experiences of Job? What about the wanderings of the Israelites in the wilderness, that warn believers not to rebel against God?
Or, even more mysterious , the incident of David and Uriah Batsheba to equip God's people to fight against temptation?
We do not know what happened the loud cry of Psalm 22: " My God, my God , why hast thou forsaken me? " But how many believers have removed the assurance that Christ is indeed the Messiah of God who performs perfect salvation of his people on the cross.
Same with this book. Having already lost two children in infancy , the author was deprived of his beloved daughter at the age of 21 years. This pain , united to the life of grace implanted by the Holy Spirit, resulting in pages filled with sensitivity and compassion.
But these are not pages pity . The believer never laments like other men , who have no hope. Instead , Pastor Cuyler will tap into the riches of the Word of God treasures forces needed . Although trained in the best theological institutions of his time, he speaks rather as a shepherd, whose sheep care burns in the heart.
A book full of consolation and hope that directs the eye to the Lamb which God has provided to bring his people in his glorious presence .
