This unique handicraft is made of nyatoh wood’s sap.
According to Wikipedia, Nyatoh is a reddish tropical hardwood from southeast Asia, especially from Indonesia and the Philippines. Some literatures said that Nyatoh is grown only in certain districts of Kalimantan Tengah (Central Borneo), Indonesia.
Nyatoh wood’s sap is very unique. Although it is elastic, nearly like rubber, we still can see the lines that we could also see in real wood. But, it is not wood. It is Nyatoh wood’s sap. Because of its elasticity, you don’t have to worry if it will be broken during the delivery process. It won’t be broken even falling from a quite high places (such as table or cupboard).
It displays the dayaks (the origins of borneo island), are oaring a traditional boat. In the boat’s body lays the word “Kalimantan”. It is the Indonesian of “Borneo Island”.
Its size is about 15 cms in length, and 11 cms in height. And its weight is less than 100 grams. Bigger size will be coming soon.
