Kenyan (Tisi) hand painted Giraffe dish
An awsome display of the intricacies of the African craftsmen (women)
The plate is for decoration only, and cannot be used for eating purposes, as I do not know how this was fired, or etched.
Suffice it to say it is a miniature masterpiece of a time gone by...there is intricat detail within the work that can bring one to fantacize over the vast wilderness that is Kenya. It is important to have this type of beauty come out of a country where there is not much esoteric beauty left, as it has been plundered and pillaged by their own and the west.
This piece almost feels like it is made of a soapstone, It is highly polished, 8 1/4" diameter, and in wonderful condition. I believe the work to have been done circa 1960's. A piece any collector would want
