Prusa Mendel RepRap
(Our website has been online since 1998: http://www.stirlingengine.com/product/reprap-prusa-mendel-3d-printer/ . The RepRap ships to the authorized billing address of the credit card holder. The cardholder's ID and signature will be required at delivery.)
This is a brand spanking new Prusa Mendel RepRap, fully assembled and in excellent working condition. This version is built with all standard fasteners except for the metric fasteners used to hold the motors. It includes upgraded linear bearings (ball instead of bronze bushings) for the axes, a stainless steel threaded rod for the z-axis, and high-torque motors. It comes with a heated bed which allows PLA to be printed directly on the glass. The bed also allows for printing ABS if the glass is covered in PET tape ( http://hydraraptor.blogspot.com/2010/04/abs-on-pet-tape.html ).
Why bother building a 3D printer when you can purchase a reliable, relatively low-cost, fully-assembled printer? Start printing your own cool creations right away, while avoiding weeks of learning how to put together a RepRap. Of course, you will still need to install the software and set up the printer. But other than that you will save loads of time. The Prusa Mendel connects directly to your computer with the included USB cable.
The maximum build size for this RepRap is approximately 8in x 8in x 5.5in (200mm x 200mm x 140mm). Plastic filament is available from several suppliers. Our engineer's personal favorite is Ultimachine.
The code that runs the machine is gcode, the same that is used for CNC machines. The RepRap is basically a small CNC machine and operates similarly, although it has an extrusion head rather than a cutting head. The nice thing about the RepRap is that it is open source, meaning that all the files that go into the creation of the machine are freely available, including the firmware source code. This makes troubleshooting easier, and allows one to easily modify any aspect of the machine if so desired. Almost any CAD program can export STL files, which is the standard 3D printer file used with the RepRap.

This product requires some technical expertise. The buyer should be technically oriented enough to install the hardware, software, and specifications for 3D printer jobs. However, if you are not fully familiar with the RepRap project, our engineer would be happy to provide a short 1-hour primer on the software and hardware.
