Jack Armstrong All American Boy Well.....this is probably the most famous and listened to old time radio shows in this genre. Worldwide locations, danger around every corner, a likable hero, mix it all together and you have a winner. The plots were a little far-fetched, OK, maybe a lot far-fetched! But they still managed to wrap it up into a very enjoyable series.
Jack Armstrong All American Boy ran from 1933-1951. Jack was a star athlete at Hudson High School, who happened to have two companions and close friends, Billy and Betty Fairfield. Jack and Betty's uncle, Jim, who was an industrialist, was the adult mentor. During their adventures Jack Armstrong and crew went all over the world, and the show was almost like a travelogue on the side They used Uncle Jim's plane "The Silver Albatross" to get them to all the world destinations, and to get them out when they needed a quick escape.
Jack Armstrong All American Boy is an old time radio staple. As mentioned on some other shows aimed at juveniles, there is a surprising resurgence in the popularity of these types of shows. When Jack Armstrong was originally aired there were sure to be a few adults listening. But now there are a whole new generation listening to these old time radio juvenile adventure shows. When Jack Armstrong All American Boy left old time radio they attempted to do an animated series based on the character of Jack Armstrong, but something in the negotiations went sour. But they did come out with something very similar, the TV show we all loved, Johnny Quest.
Probably the best of the Juvenile type adventure shows. The MP3 CD has 94 shows on it, with each being a little less than 15 minutes. Some of the shows in this series are serial type shows, and do not have all the shows in that particular serial. Too bad they all didn't make it through!
