cs2004 - Cross Assembler, Emulator, and related tools
December, 2003 Edition Copyright Arnold Kochman. Other copyrights also apply, including but not limited to the GNU Public License. This is a CD containing a number of worthwhile cross assemblers, debuggers, emulators, and other resources. In addition, there are some useful internet links. This collection is primarily of software hosted on Windows, DOS, and Linux. To a lesser extent, items may be specific to OS/2, and in a few cases, other hardware. The programs are either public domain or some kind of public license. I have searched the Internet for software that appears to be useful, but I cannot give assurances about the suitability of any package for a particular purpose. Generally, the packages fall into three categories:
1. Applicable to one processor or a closely related group of processors
2. Designed to apply to an extended family of processors
3. More modern software that attempts to generalize assembler functionality, and is applicable to many target processors.
Group 3 would certainly be the place to start if you are doing new development. However, if you should be so unfortunate as to have a mountain of code that is ideosyncratic to some old assembler, it would certainly be lucky if it is one of the many old assemblers on this disk. I have included some documentation, where possible. In addition, packages contain documentation at varying levels of thoroughness, which you will see when you expand the archives in which they are stored. Note that there are various archive formats, which generally are appropriate to the area of applicability of the contents. In addition, I have included copies of some web pages with very useful links.
