This unique and exclusive batik painting on cotton is delicately hand drawn using the 'canting' and 'tulis' methods, whereby hot wax is flown from the canting's tiny, downward-curving spouts straight onto the cotton cloth decorously then vividly painted by the up and coming batik artist, Zabid.
Colourful phoenix rises over exotic blossoms creating an illusion rich in fantasy and artistry. The artisan finds inspiration in the Chinese phoenix, a symbol of beauty said to bring peace and prosperity, as well as ward off evil.
