Otero, Mario - Self Titled - Vinyl LP Record - 1981 Private Texas Label - Synth Prog Strings Rock
MARIO OTERO LP
Village Recording Studio Records # 2205
This album is an original 1st pressing on a Private Texas record label of the first Mario Otero ever album. Mario grew up around El Paso, and this LP was recorded in Texas and released in 1981. In addition to Mario Oteros guitars and lead vocals, there is an unusually large amount of other musicians and instruments included. Of particular interest is the fact that this recording includes a synthesizer, and a massive string section. Mario's own website claims this: "Right out of the gate on this record, Mario shows a multi-faceted talent, going from a soft love song to a sweeping theme reminiscent of Emerson, Lake and Palmer, with a healthy dose of the Southwest in the middle. An eclectic mix that crosses genres". This albums music is rather hard to describe, and is quite different from all of his other recordings (many of which are Jazz oriented).
The vinyl looks like it has hardly been played and there are no spindle marks on the label. Under a lamp, it shows only a small amount of superficial light surface rubbing, probably from sliding inside the paper sleeve. There is nothing even close to being able to be felt on the grooves. The cover has some surface and seam wear and a ½ inch seam split. There is no writing anywhere on the cover.
