These beautiful pieces came from the estate of a woman in another state who loved beautiful things and was able to surround herself with treasures of all kinds. All the tablecloths had been professionally laundered, starched and iron and were hanging in a closet on clip hangers.
If you appreciate beautiful workmanship, this tablecloth should be in your collection...whether you use it or not! The size is just a smidgen below 70" x 85" with a neat 1/2" hem, fagoted accent. The cloth may have been bought readymade, but the sizing is a bit unusual, so it may be handmade, neatly done if so.
The center rectangular focal point, which is accented on the corners and along the edges, is done in shaded appliqued flowers, a large central one with leaves, with graceful tendrils with bugs and leaves. Decorative stitching connects the motifs. One of the neatest (literally and figuratively) is the appliqued raised "dots" or petals...that are padded, not stitches. As a seamstress I can appreciate immensely the amount of talented workmanship that went into creating this beautiful piece. It's a work of art. (If I had the right table size, I would keep this for my very own...but then you would never have gotten to see it!)
This lovely table cloth deserves a home where it can be fully appreciated, both for its beauty and its incredible work...for years to come!
