Handcrafted by the Ruiz family of Teotitlan del Valle in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico.
Made from 100% wool, the process is begun by washing and cleaning the wool. It is then carded and spun into yarn. Next, it is rolled into a large ball to prepare it for dying using natural vegetable and insect dyes such as indigo, cochineal, marigold, brazilwood and others. It is then woven on traditional looms as it has been since the 1500's.
Each rug was hand chosen for it's intricacy of design, color and quality of the weave.
While commonly used as an area rug the beauty of these rugs make it suitable for use as a tapestry.
Measurements are 32" wide by 58" long but may vary by a fraction of an inch or two due to being made by hand.
