Our beautiful distressed/recycled patchwork rugs are first deep-washed and then sheared low for an overall antique effect with softened contours of the original patterns.
They are then over-dyed in solid colors with color-fast textile dyes safe for health and cut into rectangles. These rectangular carpet pieces are then hand-stitched (not machine-stitched as you generally would find in many other rugs made in the same fashion) to each other and sewn (not glued) at the back with a dark-colored, strong and durable cotton denim that functions as an underlay, protects the rug and extends its life. Based on your color choices, the resulting design can be made into a rug with many shades of a particular color to a rug with a mix of colors or alternatively with a neutral undyed color usually in beige and light brown tones. The color of yarn used for the hand stitching can be customized too. Each rug that we produce bears a unique look depending on the patterns of carpet pieces used and slight variations of undertones in these pieces.
