An authentic hair comb traditionally worn by the Miao Hmong women in the hill tribe villages along the China/Laos border. Traditionally placed into back of a hair bun.
Absolutely fantastic hand-etched designs.
The Hmong believe that silver has the ability to keep away evil spirits which bring misfortune, and wear pieces like this for good luck and protection.
Made in the 1970's with silver and brass. About 10 inches wide.
I collected this piece while trekking in Southeast Asia last year.
An amazing example of traditional Hmong craftsmanship and cultural heritage!
