HISTORY The Hocking Glass Company was founded in 1905 by Isaac and Jacob Collinsi in Lancaster, Ohio, named for the local Hocking River and merged with the AnchorCap and Closure Corporation in 1937 to become the Anchor Hocking Glass Company. The merger produced its first glassware, Royal Ruby, in 1939. The company introduced the Fire-King line of everyday glassware in the 1940s; Fire-King was sold at grocery and hardware stores and was often included in bags of flour as promotionals items or given away at gas stations. The Fire-King brand grew to include dinnerware, nesting bowls, dessert bowls, glass beverage containers, casserole dishes, mugs, and more.
