This is the Columbia Jazz Masterpieces CD version of Duke Ellington's "Ellington Uptown," reissued in 1987 on Columbia 40836 and in mint condition. The material was recorded in 1951 and 1952 and includes TAKE THE "A" TRAIN (vocal by Betty Roche), THE MOOCHE, A TONE PARALLEL TO HARLEM, PERDIDO, SKIN DEEP (featuring Louis Bellson on drums) and THE CONTROVERSIAL SUITE, in which Duke slyly sends up the Dixieland revival and Stan Kenton! Movements of the Suite are entitled "Before My Time" and "Later."




USED, but in great condition. NO scratches and NO signs of abuse or misuse.
