It is used to tilt slats back and forth (open and close.) However, this mechansim does not raise or lower blinds. This product can only fit into a 2 to 2.25 wide headrail by 2 tall headrail. Can only fit a 1/4 square tilter rod (if you notice the pictures, there is a small square in the center of the mechanism. This is where you feed the metal rod through which is located inside your blinds' headrail.)
