Liane Carroll was born in London and started playing the piano at a young age, being trained by the famous concert pianist Phyllis Catling, and dabbling in styles from jazz to soul.
Liane Carroll’s Career highlights In 1990 she formed The Liane Carroll Trio. Toured and recorded with US guitar legends Jerry Donahue, Gerry Rafferty and Long John Baldry. Recorded a charity song, 'Little Children' for the children of Brazil with Sir Paul McCartney.
Performed to huge concert crowds in New Zealand, Brazil and Glastonbury Festival in the UK between 2001 – 2005. Released 'Hospital Accapellas', 'Billion Dollar Gravy' and 'Power Ballads' CDs.Won 'Best Vocalist' and 'Best of Jazz' at the 2005 BBC Jazz Awards for her album 'Billy No Mates' on Splash Point Records. Recorded 'Standard Issue' at the famous Abbey Road studios in London.
Liane's performance at the 2006 Brecon Jazz Festival was recorded by BBC TV as an hour long special 'Liane Carroll Trio LIVE, and released on DVD in 2008.
Since 1993, Liane has headlined at the legendary Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club, London UK and in 2007 won 'Best Female Jazz Vocalist' at their first Awards.
At the 2007 Glastonbury Festival, The Liane Carroll Trio made a head-line performance to over 300,000 listeners on BBC Radio 3. The Sunday Times selected her album ‘Slow Down’ as one of their top five jazz albums of the year. Featured by MOJO Magazine in their Top 10 Playlist for 2007. Won the 2008 British Parliamentary Jazz Award for 'Musician Of The Year'. Performed to rapturous audiences at Dizzy's Jazz Club in New York's Lincoln Center, and the Rochester
Jazz Festival in 2009.
Liane guested on BBC Radio 4's 'The Horne Section' with Alex Horne in 2013. She currently conducts workshops and Masterclass's in the UK, France, Italy, Hawaii and
Portugal, and still performs at international music festivals regularly.
