This dvd is a look back at the early days of drag racing. See cars drag racing on a strip of asphalt only 16' wide! Howland Dragstrip was located near Warren in Norteastern Ohio. This dvd chronologically captures the history of Howland Dragstrip from opening day in 1957 (when the strip was dirt) until it's closing in 1962. Along the way viewers will see the changes in race cars and technology, starting with coupes with flathead motors thru the cars of the early 60's. Mixed in between are many hot rods and loads of '55-'57 Chevys. Included are the dragsters of Don Garlits, Art Malone, Jack Chrisman. Eddie Hill (twin engine dragster), and Dave Dangerfield (twin engine dragster)

Akron Airport is considered to be the first drag racing site east of the Mississippi River. This DVD begins with some very rare 1953 footage featurinf flathead powered roadsters. Drag racing on a very narrow service road and drag racing on the airport runway are both featured. This DVD is a virtual car show with many up-close views of cars of the era. Included are many of the different Art Arfons' Green Monsters, Otie Smith's roadsters, Hollish Brothers Competition Coupe, Leffler Brothers Competition Coupe and many, many more.
THIS RARE TITLE IS TRANSFERRED TO A HIGH QUALITY DVD-R DISC, In NTSC format, region free, and will play in any DVD player. This DVD comes with case and artwork as shown in photo.
