DC: Traditional 5 Yard Tartan Scottish Highlander Kilt 10 oz Acrylic Wool
At “DC SPORTS” we are determined to provide you best of our Tartan kilts. Keeping in mind that almost every seller in market is using same pictures we developed years ago, we are trying to convey this message to buyers that you cannot get quality tartan kilts (even in economic kilts) by paying the price of cheap knock off. By getting some important innovations in design and reducing the cost at every stage of manufacturing, we are able to claim that our “Traditional Tartan Kilts” are Reasonable in Prices, Good at Quality and Easy to maintain.
FABRIC
5 Yard 100% Acrylic with many elements of wool like drape and weight, but without the itchiness of wool. Fabric weight measurement is 8 to 10 oz. depending on colors are production run.
Kilts are washable at 40 degree and dry clean will be even best option for long life of kilts.
STITCHING-THREAD
Normally Tartan Kilts are stitched by “Single Ply Cotton Thread” which can actually hold your kilts at fell and pleats for very short time. Just 3 to 4 times you fasten your kilt, spend a day out, and you see your kilt is fraying or even it is gone.
Again you have to buy another kilt may you find your favorite tartan again or may not.
We have overcome this problem by changing the sewn pattern and thread used to stitch our “Traditional Tartan kilts”.
We are Using “Double Ply Poly-Cotton Thread” for extra strong hold and long life of fabric. By using this Cotton and Polyester Hybrid thread we are gaining even much better feedbacks for our “Traditional Scottish Highlander Tartan Kilts”.
How To Determine Quality?
A quality hand sewn kilt should have 9 to 10 stitches per inch, which is what we always aim for. Sometimes that is difficult with Tartan and Cotton Hybrid Kilts, but for “Traditional Tartan Kilts” we are standing by what we believe to be true. If you are considering purchasing a kilt, run your finger nail along the fell of one of the pleats. You will feel the stitches as your nails passes over them.
Select approximately a one inch section of the fell and count the number of stitches you feel. If it in the region 8, 9, or 10 it is well sewn. If you can only feel 4 to 5 stitches, I consider this to be an inferior kilt.
Not nearly enough stitches to the inch.
This is a very good indication of the quality of kilt you are purchasing.
It is not the only check you can make but is probably the most important.
Another quick check is to see if you can push your fingers up past the fell between the pleats.
