Back: "C.T. Art-Colortone" Front: Municipal Building, White Plains, N.Y. 15 5A-H2079       This vintage postcard is in "excellent" condition. Linen texture.(See photos)  Linen postcards' heyday was from the years of the 1930's when they were introduced through 1945. They were the principal kind of postcard made during this time because of emerging equipment. It allowed production of linen postcards to be more economical in view of the fact that printing costs in Europe were becoming prohibitive because of tariffs. In the beginning, linens maintained the white border look along the edges of the card. Gradually disappearing as manufacturers started printing the image all the way to the card's edge. One of the best-known publishing firms of quality linen postcards was Curt Teich. Very Good ( VG ) Minor defects such as album marks, signs of age and handling acceptable that do not detract from a visually pleasing card. Good (G) Noticeable defects, handling and wear apparent. Slight creasing and minor postal damage not detrimental to image acceptable in this category. Fair (F) Obvious creasing, staining, small tears or damp damage evident. Significant edge or corner damage. Just about in a collectible state. Poor (P) Incomplete, image seriously affected. A gap filler only!
