The Son of Tarzan is for sale. The Edgar Rice Burroughs Son of Tarzan book was published by Grosset & Dunlap in New York in 1917.
The Son of Tarzan is a rare First World War cheap edition book which has a note from the publisher to the front of the book that reads:
“This book, while produced under wartime conditions, in full compliance with government regulations for the conservation of paper and other essential material, is COMPLETE AND UNABRIDGED.”
The Son of Tarzan original publisher’s red binding with black lettering to the front board and to the spine are in Good condition with minor minute surface losses to the boards and spine, knocks to the top and bottom of the spine and corners, and creases to the spine where the book has been opened and read.
The Son of Tarzan has 312 numbered pages which are in Good condition being age toned throughout (possibly due to the quality of the paper during wartime) with a retailer’s tamp to the front free endpaper and a price in blue ink.
There is a wonderful illustration of Tarzan in the jungle with a lion to the Title Page. To the reverse of the Title Page is the Copyright Page with the wording:
“Copyright, 1917, by A. McClurg & Co. Copyrighted in Great Britain”
“Made in the United States of America”
Following the Copyright Page is the Dedication Page that reads:
“To Hulbert Burroughs”
The Son of Tarzan is an early and collectable Tarzan book that will make a great addition to any Edgar Rice Burroughs Tarzan book collection or any collection of modern first edition books.
