Kate Greenaway Almanack for 1884 is for sale. This is a fascinating Kate Greenaway book that gives, by month, dates of note; also Birthdays of the Royal Family starting with Queen Victoria; details of public museums and galleries; and details of the “New Parcels Post”.
The Kate Greenaway Almanack front cover features two young girls sitting on a wooden fence and watching the moon which itself has illustrations, and this is surrounded by a posy of flowers, which also surrounds the title Almanack for 1884 by Kate Greenaway. The back cover also has the same design. The boards are in Very Good condition.
The pages have the dates and the day of the week represented by a letter, and to the top of the page is a colour illustration by Kate Greenaway to represent the sign of the Zodiac. For instance, the page for February 1884 has the date for the 14th February 1884 as “14 Th” and in the next column is the significance of this date St Valentines Day. The illustration for February is of a young boy holding a fishing rod for Pisces The Fisher.
