Early 20th Century Ava Style Antique Burmese Good Luck Buddha Statue - 59cm/24" Measures – (Height) 59cm/24” Ca. Early 20th century Burmese Ava style Buddha. The Buddha is seated with the right hand palm facing out in a gesture that is said to bring fortune and good luck. The Buddha has a peaceful countenance with downcast introspective eyes and a firm brow, reinforcing the impression of serenity and spirituality. His earlobes are stretched long from a youth spent as a prince wearing heavy gold earrings. The bejewelled robes cascade simply down his torso. The head is surmounted by a domed 'Ushnisha', rising to a stylised bejewelled lotus bud finial. This 'Kecil' (pinnacle) is carved from teak wood. The peaceful countenance of Lord Buddha exudes harmony. The carving is beautiful as you can see in the fine details of the face. Each detail is rendered perfectly.
